About the position

The Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) of Mental Health is responsible for overseeing the clinical, administrative, and programmatic operations of the Mental Health Service at the VA Pacific Islands Health Care System. This role involves managing various mental health programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and improving patient outcomes through strategic initiatives and quality measurement tools.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee clinical, administrative, and programmatic operations of the Mental Health Service.
  • Participate as chair of Mental Health programmatic oversight for all VA PIHCS sites of care.
  • Evaluate partnerships with other services and take action to improve identified deficiencies.
  • Track and evaluate staff's workload and productivity related to mental health services.
  • Create, implement, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures for mental health services.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Ensure timely completion of program evaluations and compliance with monitoring entities.
  • Direct continuous measurement and improvement of quality, timeliness, and patient satisfaction in mental healthcare.
  • Plan and coordinate high-quality, patient-centered care through quality measurement tools.
  • Continuously assess and improve mental health delivery processes.
  • Provide active strategic decision-making and organizational planning, including budgetary oversight.

Requirements

  • Experience in clinical and administrative operations within mental health services.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in mental health treatment.
  • Supervisory experience and ability to manage professional and administrative aspects of mental health services.
  • Familiarity with VA statutes and regulations related to mental health services.
  • Ability to evaluate and improve partnerships with other healthcare services.

Nice-to-haves

  • Board certification in a relevant mental health field.
  • Experience with performance improvement initiatives in healthcare settings.
