About the position

The Associate Chief of Staff for Education/Executive Management at G.V. Sonny Montgomery VA Medical Center is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the education and training programs within the facility. The incumbent will work closely with academic affiliates and stakeholders to enhance educational initiatives, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and promote a culture of continuous learning and quality improvement. This position requires a board-eligible physician with strong administrative skills and a commitment to interdisciplinary care delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical interface with academic affiliates and key stakeholders.
  • Maintain and enhance partnerships with academic affiliates and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure services meet standards issued by accrediting and regulatory groups.
  • Continuously assess and improve processes within the Education service.
  • Encourage continuing education and compliance with performance standards for all personnel.
  • Manage financial aspects including budget planning for Education and Learning Resources.
  • Develop and implement tracking methods for fiscal activities.
  • Collaborate with service chiefs on the Medical Center's strategic and business plan.
  • Encourage risk-taking and entrepreneurial behavior to develop alternative revenue streams.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the goals of the G.V. Montgomery VA Medical Center.
  • Develop an interdisciplinary team focused on excellence in education and patient care.
  • Maintain good labor-management relations and resolve personnel issues effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, patients, and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Board eligible (certified strongly preferred) physician with advanced clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated administrative and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of the VA system and regulations relating to academic affiliates.
  • Progressive management experience with strong administrative and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to an interdisciplinary approach to care delivery.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in budget management and fiscal planning.
  • Familiarity with quality improvement processes in healthcare.
