About the position

The Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for the Rehab and Extended Care is an executive leadership position that oversees the department responsible for providing comprehensive healthcare services to veterans. This role encompasses the planning, development, coordination, direction, and evaluation of various services including Geriatrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Audiology, Whole Health, Community Living Centers, Home-Based Primary Care (HBPC), Palliative Care, and Administrative Medicine and Therapy departments. The ACOS plays a critical role in ensuring that the services provided meet the highest standards of quality and accessibility for veterans, focusing on improving patient outcomes and enhancing the overall healthcare experience. In this position, the ACOS is expected to maintain a critical onsite presence for daily operations, which includes overseeing the credentialing and privileging of healthcare providers, monitoring key clinical metrics, and formulating action plans to address any issues that may arise. The ACOS will also be responsible for ensuring that the department meets its clinical, research, and educational goals, serving both inpatient and outpatient populations. The role requires a strong commitment to promoting positive health outcomes for veterans and ensuring that the services provided are aligned with the mission and values of the Veterans Health Administration. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
  • Must have a full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State or territory.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical examination.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required.
  • Participation in the COVID-19 vaccination program is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in executive leadership roles within healthcare settings.
  • Familiarity with the Veterans Health Administration policies and procedures.
  • Board certification in a relevant medical specialty.
