About the position

The Associate Civil Engineer will be responsible for strategic development planning and detailed design work, focusing on highways, drainage, and development infrastructure for a variety of private sector clients and key local authority clients. This role involves leading and coordinating detailed design efforts, managing multiple projects, and mentoring junior staff while ensuring robust project delivery and financial management.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake strategic development planning and detailed design work for highways, drainage, and development infrastructure.
  • Provide technical input into the planning process and lead detailed design implementation during the construction phase.
  • Manage multiple projects and client accounts, requiring strong time management skills.
  • Support financial and commercial management through robust project delivery.
  • Liaise with highways, water, statutory, and local authorities to negotiate necessary approvals.
  • Mentor junior staff and manage project resources effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Masters in Civil Engineering with Chartered status.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in civil engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of legal processes, planning, design, and technical consents for drainage schemes.
  • Experience in technical report writing and knowledge of relevant design codes and regulations.
  • Proficient in using design software such as MicroDrainage and AutoCAD.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience or interest in PDS to supervise junior colleagues.
