The Associate Civil Engineer at SJW Corp plays a crucial role in the design, construction, and project management of various water facilities. This position is under general direction and involves complex professional civil and mechanical engineering work related to the development of new and replacement wells, chemical and potable water storage tanks, pressure regulating stations, booster pump stations, water treatment and disinfection facilities, pipelines, and special projects such as alternative energy initiatives, tenant improvements, landscaping, and paving. The Associate Civil Engineer will also be responsible for coordinating projects with various engineering groups and staff assigned to these projects, ensuring that all aspects of the work are aligned with the company's standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal and leadership skills, capable of successfully completing projects and developing in-house design packages as the engineer of record. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of civil and mechanical engineering principles as they apply to water supply distribution, treatment, and operation. The Associate Civil Engineer will prepare plans and specifications for construction projects, stamp and sign design drawings, and prepare bid documents while monitoring design costs and overall project budgets. Additionally, the position involves coordinating with other company groups and outside consultants, obtaining necessary permits, performing field investigations, and maintaining thorough documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
