About the position

The Associate Civil Roadway Engineer position at Parsons involves supporting WSDOT projects and collaborating with various regional transportation planning agencies in Washington. This role offers mentorship from experienced engineers and allows for hybrid remote work, providing a balance between office and home environments. The engineer will engage in roadway engineering and design assignments, utilizing advanced software and engineering techniques to contribute to critical infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform various roadway engineering and design assignments under the guidance of a senior engineer.
• Utilize drafting and 3D modeling software to develop conceptual and detailed designs.
• Conduct design calculations including material quantity takeoffs and construction cost estimates.
• Assist in the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications.
• Prepare detailed requisitions for material purchases, services, and subcontracts.
• Provide input to CAD Designer/Drafters working on the same project.
• Perform basic geometric design alignments for road and highway projects.
• Design ramps, highways, and interchanges as knowledge grows.
• Utilize Microstation and AutoCAD for design work.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.
• 0-2 years of experience with roadway design engineering.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate is preferred.
• Prior internships in road and highway design are a plus, but not required.
• Some training with AutoCAD Civil3D or MicroStation is helpful.
• Ability to communicate and effectively participate as part of an engineering team.
• Solid aptitude for learning more advanced design engineering skills.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to work in an office team environment.
