About the position

The Associate Chief Legal Officer (CLO) for the MidAmerica and Southwest Regions at AdventHealth is responsible for providing comprehensive legal guidance and support to multiple healthcare facilities, including hospitals and physician groups. This role involves advising on a wide range of healthcare legal issues, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and drafting complex legal documents. The Associate CLO will work closely with executive management and medical staff leadership to navigate legal challenges in the healthcare sector, contributing to the overall mission of AdventHealth.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance and advice to 7 acute care hospitals, 2 critical access hospitals, 3 multidisciplinary physician groups, and 4 ambulatory surgery centers.
• Advise on medical staff matters, credentialing, patient care, risk management, licensing, and accreditation issues.
• Draft and negotiate complex transactional documents, bylaws, contracts, and policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with anti-kickback, Stark, HIPAA, and other relevant regulations.
• Advise on physician recruitment, employment, retention, and compensation practices.
• Provide legal advice on affiliation agreements, professional service agreements, and practice acquisitions.
• Supervise legal support staff, paralegals, and contract managers.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Graduate of a four-year accredited university.
• 8-15 years of health law practice experience.
• Experience in a law firm or relevant governmental role.
• Membership in Kansas and Texas Bar Associations or Authorized House Counsel in Kansas and Texas.
