About the position

The Associate Collections Coordinator is responsible for managing collections activities to recover late payments and minimize bad debt write-offs. This role involves working closely with both internal and external customers to ensure timely and accurate payment application to customer accounts. The position requires effective communication and data management skills to handle collections-related tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inbound and outbound collections calls with customers.
  • Complete daily account activity assignments within required timeframes.
  • Produce and use data reports effectively to identify open items and audit work.
  • Assist customers in resolving invoicing or payment problems.
  • Process customer credit card payments and generate credit card reports to balance with bank deposits.
  • Print, reprint as needed, and mail invoices and statements at customer's request.
  • Record activities and account updates timely and accurately in internal data systems.
  • Review weekly receivables reports and provide findings of proposed receivables adjustments, write-offs, and payment history.
  • Work with sales and billing staff for research, reconciliation, and analysis of customer accounts.
  • Update schedule, logs, and tasks daily.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (HSED) and some college-level accounting courses required.
  • 1+ year of experience in a collections/receivables environment.
  • Strong worksheet preparation experience.
  • Understanding of Accounts Receivable and invoice processing concepts and procedures.
  • Experience with ten key by touch and typing speed of 35 WPM required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with excellent verbal, written and listening skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations including multiplication and percentages.
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy with data entry.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including basic skills in Word and Outlook, and intermediate skills in Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Business or a related field preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to develop effective professional relationships.
