About the position

The Associate Collector is responsible for servicing customer needs by accurately billing accounts, ensuring timely remittance, and addressing issues related to account integrity. This role involves following up with payers to maintain cash flow and requires strong communication skills and familiarity with medical billing processes.

Responsibilities

• Accurately bill customer accounts and assure timely remittance.
• Take immediate action on issues involving account integrity.
• Follow up with payers to facilitate uninterrupted cash flow.
• Answer questions from customers, clerical staff, and insurance companies.
• Identify and resolve patient billing complaints.
• Handle customer collection calls.
• Document activities in the ERP system efficiently and accurately.
• Prepare and review clean claims for submission to various insurances.

Requirements

• Excellent communication skills and proper phone and email etiquette.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and insurances, including HCPC/ICD-9 codes.
• Ability to evaluate and secure necessary prescriptions, prior authorizations, and medical justification for claims.
• Experience in editing and resubmitting claims for payment.
