About the position

The Associate Computer & Electrical Engineer position at Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC involves supporting the USS NIMITZ Class Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Electrical Systems unit. The role focuses on testing, fleet support, and development of shipboard embedded I&C systems, contributing to the safety and reliability of naval nuclear reactors. The successful candidate will work collaboratively in a team environment, applying their engineering skills to support the operating fleet and enhance future designs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the operation of a typical naval nuclear power plant and its components.
  • Assess and recommend revisions to electrical systems, components, and procedures for reactor I&C systems.
  • Utilize laboratory capabilities to troubleshoot issues and test shipboard systems and component revisions.
  • Provide emergent support through analysis, troubleshooting, and direct communications with stakeholders and end-users.
  • Support in-person training and familiarization for U.S. Navy operators on reactor I&C systems and principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field.
  • Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred.
  • GPA 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Previous technical writing experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with naval nuclear power systems.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and control systems.
