About the position

The Associate Construction EHS Specialist at Tesla is responsible for implementing and improving the company's Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHS&S) strategy within construction environments. This role involves providing onsite support to construction teams and partner contractors, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations, and fostering a culture of safety and health across various groups involved in construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct project walks focused on safe work practices and provide coaching to workers when corrections are needed.
  • Participate in reviews for high hazard work prior to execution, including critical lifts, confined space entries, and fall protection plans.
  • Review Pre-Work Risk Assessments and Pre-Task Plans to ensure alignment with field work.
  • Participate in project kick-off meetings to communicate EHS site-specific expectations.
  • Contribute to project planning to address hazards from multiple work crews.
  • Ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal health and safety regulations.
  • Lead and document accident/incident investigations to determine root causes and corrective measures.
  • Perform frequent safety and environmental inspections and audits in the field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience in building high-tech infrastructure and operational facilities.
  • GSP or ASP certification preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Background in electrical, mechanical, and process plumbing systems, and heavy civil work.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, UBC, ISO, ANSI, RIA, NFPA, and GB codes.
  • Strong communication skills to interface across multiple departments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automotive, tool/equipment installation, semiconductor, solar, or battery facilities.
