About the position

Ocean Spray is seeking a creative, collaborative, and results-driven Associate Controls & Automation Engineer to join our team at the Henderson, NV Manufacturing Facility. This role is pivotal in providing project and manufacturing floor support to our beverage manufacturing and packaging operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Controls & Automation Engineer to evaluate and select automation hardware and software that meets both current and future operational needs. In this position, you will be responsible for managing the controls and automation systems testing, quality control, data retrieval, and training for packaging and processing equipment. You will assist in the development and modification of PLC and HMI programs, providing project engineering support to various process areas within the beverage plant facilities. Your contributions will also include supporting the implementation of facility control system standardization and process improvement tasks, ensuring that documentation for control and electrical systems is maintained, and managing change control procedures. As part of your role, you will provide controls support for the manufacturing facility and assist plant mechanics in troubleshooting issues. You will also be involved in the development and management of controls-related capital projects, contributing to the determination and maintainability of new process control systems, and managing process controls change control procedures for existing equipment. Responsibilities

  • Provide input to managing the controls and automation systems testing, quality control, data retrieval, and training for packaging and processing equipment.
  • Assist in managing the controls and automation interface, testing, quality control, data retrieval, and training for all packaging and processing equipment.
  • Assist with the development and modification of PLC & HMI programs.
  • Provide project engineering support to process areas of the beverage plant facilities.
  • Support the implementation of facility control system standardization and process improvement tasks.
  • Provide controls support for the manufacturing facility and assist plant mechanics in troubleshooting.
  • Ensure documentation for control/electrical system and document change control procedures.
  • Assist with the development and management of controls related capital projects.
  • Contribute to determination and maintainability of new process control systems and manage process controls change control procedures for existing equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or 3 years of related experience.
  • Food and beverage or pharmaceutical experience is a plus.
  • Perform Electrical Troubleshooting techniques.
  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC-5, SLC-500, MicroLogix, and ControlLogix hardware.
  • Knowledge of RSLogix5, RSLogix500, and RSLogix5000 software.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and program PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and Vision Systems.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain Ethernet, Remote I/O, and DeviceNet communication networks.
  • General knowledge of National Electrical Code is a plus.
  • Read electrical schematics and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's).
  • Strong computer skills (AutoCAD, MS Project, MS Office).
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Capable of working on multiple projects and prioritizing workload.
  • Able to work cross-functionally in a team environment and at various organizational levels.
