About the position

The Associate Creative Director - Video Production & Photography at American Eagle Outfitters is a pivotal role responsible for producing high-quality multimedia marketing content for the Aerie/OFFLINE brands. This position requires a creative leader who can elevate and drive the creative vision, conceptual direction, and development of video content that engages, informs, and inspires audiences. The role encompasses overseeing all aspects of video production, including creative management, production planning, and implementation. The ideal candidate will possess excellent storytelling abilities and a strong vision, along with the capability to manage and inspire a team of video producers, directors, editors, and designers. In this role, the Associate Creative Director will be tasked with translating business goals into compelling visual narratives while maintaining a deep understanding of current video trends, technologies, and best practices. The position involves collaboration with leadership on creative strategy for video and photo planning for seasonal campaigns, including storyboarding, pre-production planning, and on-set direction. The Associate Creative Director will also oversee cinematography aspects such as lighting, camera work, shot composition, and visual effects, ensuring that the final product aligns with the creative direction set forth by the Creative Director. Additionally, the role requires managing budgets, leading post-production efforts, and developing creative strategies for audio production and music selection. The Associate Creative Director must remain aware of industry trends and recommend changes to keep the Aerie/OFFLINE brands competitive. This position demands the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining professionalism and meeting deadlines, reporting directly to the VP Creative of Aerie/OFFLINE brands.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a team including videographers, video editors, agency partners, and producers.
  • Lead in-house teams for on-location video direction/capture, including DP, shoot details, and post-production management.
  • Responsible for creative and art direction as well as production of all video-related content across various platforms.
  • Collaborate with leadership on creative strategy for video/photo planning for seasonal campaigns, including storyboards and pre-production planning.
  • Direct the visual look of film or video productions as DP during photo shoots.
  • Oversee all aspects of cinematography, including lighting, camera work, shot composition, and visual effects.
  • Lead post-production and delivery of customer-facing video creative marketing throughout all channels.
  • Develop and manage budgets with in-house operations and producer partners.
  • Lead creative strategy for audio production, music licensing, and music selection for all channels.
  • Research and present new and emerging creative approaches to photography and video.
  • Remain aware of industry trends and recommend changes to ensure brand competitiveness.
  • Manage and handle multiple projects simultaneously with professionalism.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design/Photography required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in a creative leadership position for design, art direction, and conceptual development.
  • 4+ years in a leadership role.
  • High degree of proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Google Docs, MS Office Suite, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, and project management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with specialty retail brands and online retail business is a plus.
  • Familiarity with current video trends and technologies.
