About the position

The Associate Credit Risk Officer position at IFC involves assessing investment and credit risks for new proposals and portfolio actions. The role aims to strengthen IFC's credit culture and investment quality by providing expert input and guidance to investment teams. The selected candidate will work closely with various departments to ensure compliance with investment standards and profitability targets while identifying potential risks and opportunities in emerging markets.

Responsibilities

  • Assess investment and credit risk for new proposals and material portfolio actions.
  • Guide investment teams in structuring deals that mitigate identified risks and meet IFC's investment standards.
  • Provide expert input on upside potential and vulnerabilities associated with new transactions.
  • Maintain a strong credit and equity culture within IFC and support knowledge management activities.
  • Encourage global consistency in the application of IFC's credit standards and investment guidelines.
  • Monitor global and sector trends that could impact the credit quality of IFC's investment portfolio.
  • Review investment concepts and proposals, including financial models and credit ratings, under the guidance of senior officers.
  • Facilitate incorporation of feedback in investment materials to support decision-making processes.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of credit ratings for portfolio transactions.
  • Support analysis of macro and portfolio trends and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Attend portfolio reviews and watchlist meetings to identify key trends and necessary actions.
  • Assist in processing waivers, rights issues, and stress testing for portfolio matters.
  • Prepare training materials and promote knowledge sharing across industries and investment products.
  • Collaborate with other IFC Credit and Investment teams globally and regionally.
  • Participate in corporate initiatives like developing new credit tools and dashboards.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant area.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in credit risk management or investments.
  • Strong numeric and analytical skills with good communication abilities.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to juggle multiple tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in additional languages is desirable.
  • Previous experience in credit risk management across multiple subsectors and products.
