About the position

The Associate Customer Service Representative at CenterPoint Energy is responsible for handling customer inquiries, complaints, and sales opportunities in a high-volume call center environment. This role focuses on providing effective solutions and ensuring customer satisfaction through various communication channels, including phone, email, and chat. The representative will also perform administrative tasks, resolve billing inquiries, and promote additional services offered by the company.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to customer inquiries via verbal and written communication with a focus on one call resolution.
  • Performs direct customer contact through phone, email, and chat.
  • Completes administrative functions and data entry.
  • Issues orders to establish or discontinue gas service or to create Electric Service Identifier (ESID) numbers.
  • Resolves billing inquiries, performs account adjustments, and negotiates payment arrangements.
  • Processes online customer service and electronic billing inquiries, and follows up on customer accounts.
  • Solicits customer feedback on service provided and initiates action based on feedback.
  • Interacts with Competitive Retail providers to discuss readings, billing dates, and order receipts.
  • Ensures proper electric and gas permitting is in place by interacting with internal departments.
  • Considers each customer contact as an opportunity to sell or promote additional value-added products or services.
  • Interacts with other departments to resolve customer inquiries and achieve satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year customer interaction experience, preferably in a high-volume call center environment.
