About the position

The Associate Customer Service Representative at CenterPoint Energy is responsible for responding to customer inquiries, complaints, and sales opportunities in a high-volume call center environment. This role focuses on providing effective customer service through various communication channels, ensuring customer satisfaction, and promoting additional services offered by the company.

Responsibilities

• Responds to customer inquiries via verbal and written communication with a focus on one call resolution.
• Performs direct customer contact through phone, email, and chat.
• Completes administrative functions and data entry.
• Issues orders to establish or discontinue gas service or create Electric Service Identifier (ESID) numbers.
• Resolves billing inquiries, performs account adjustments, negotiates payment arrangements, and processes online customer service inquiries.
• Solicits customer feedback and initiates action based on it.
• Receives and prioritizes trouble calls appropriately.
• Interacts with Competitive Retail providers to discuss readings and billing dates.
• Ensures proper electric and gas permitting is in place by interacting with internal departments.
• Considers each customer contact as an opportunity to sell or promote additional products or services.
• Interacts with other departments to resolve customer inquiries and achieve satisfaction.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year customer interaction experience, preferably in a high-volume call center environment.
