About the position

The Associate Cyber Security Analyst role involves monitoring cybersecurity activities, analyzing potential threats, and providing support to incident response teams. This position is crucial for maintaining the security posture of the organization by identifying and responding to security incidents and threats.

Responsibilities

• Monitors daily cybersecurity activity in shifts to determine if activity is malignant or benign and engages others as required.
• Provides analysis on malware and escalates as appropriate to incident response teams.
• Conducts baseline threat hunting based on intelligence for utility peers and other intelligence sources.
• Provides hunting/analysis on phishing cases and reports of potential compromise/breach.
• Performs proficient forensic analysis using security tools and monitoring systems to discover the source of anomalous security events.
• Assists in performing basic research internally and externally.
• Performs complex system administration tasks for security tools, including customization and cross-tool integration.
• Develops a strategy to implement work in the department.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a job-related discipline is desired.
• IT-Information Technology Security certification is preferred.
