As part of the Cyber Risk and Resilience Directorate, the Cybersecurity Engineer will join a team of engineers dedicated to addressing resilience challenges through the application of the latest tools, techniques, and methods. The Cybersecurity Assurance (CA) team is responsible for developing capabilities that enable organizations to assess, analyze, and manage risks to mission-critical assets, processes, systems, and infrastructures. This role involves supporting the operational capabilities and the ongoing evolution of the CA Team's offerings. In this position, you will conduct cybersecurity assessments and develop security measurement approaches, transitioning your knowledge and expertise to the broader community. Your responsibilities will include performing research to create tools, methodologies, and other artifacts for cybersecurity assessments and measuring operational resilience. Additionally, you will assist in the development and delivery of training materials for cybersecurity assurance capabilities. Collaboration is key, as you will work on multidisciplinary teams in both leadership and contributor roles, tackling complex customer challenges in diverse environments. You will also represent the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) to community practitioners and researchers, enhancing the visibility and impact of the team's work. The role requires a strong foundation in cybersecurity standards, maturity model concepts, and the evaluation of cybersecurity controls and practices. You will be expected to conduct on-site technical assessments, prepare technical reports, and deliver briefings to customers. Familiarity with cloud technologies, critical infrastructure protection concepts, and information sharing practices will be beneficial. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will interact with a range of audiences, from junior technical contributors to senior leadership.
