About the position

Genesis10 is currently seeking an Associate Data Center Technician for our client located in Santa, CA. This is a 12-month contract position with a leading global professional network that aims to create economic opportunities for every member of the workforce. As an Associate Data Center Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the stability and performance of the company's enterprise computer systems. Your primary responsibilities will include troubleshooting failed hard drives and DIMMs, as well as installing new SSD and NVME drives into existing servers. You will receive mentorship from level 2 data center technicians and assist them with various server maintenance tasks as needed. The quality of your work will directly impact the company's operations, as downtime is measured in minutes. Therefore, responsiveness and effectiveness during system outages are critical. You will work closely with the local site supervisor, who will assign your workload, and collaborate with contracted Data Center Technicians and Senior Data Center Technicians to ensure that service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) are met. This position also involves working with full-time engineers as points of escalation for more complex issues. In addition to your primary responsibilities, you will also assist in OS-level troubleshooting and network troubleshooting, prepare server nodes for decommissioning, and ensure compliance with data center house rules. Maintaining cleanliness in the data center is also part of your duties, and any issues must be reported to leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and resolution of failed hard drives and failed DIMMs within server nodes
  • Installation of new SSD and NVME hard drives into existing servers
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of console connectivity issues
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of all power supply and RDU (power strip) related issues
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of all tier 1 server hardware break fix issues
  • Assisting Data Center Technicians in OS level troubleshooting and network troubleshooting
  • Process (identify, tag, and prepare) all server nodes ready for decommissioning and prepare them for our third party ITAM vendor to pick up
  • Ensure data center house rules are being followed and immediately report any concerns to leadership
  • Ensure data center cleanliness, any issues with cleanliness must be reported to leadership

Requirements

  • 2+ years in a Data Center Engineering Role
  • 2+ years Linux troubleshooting experience
  • 2+ years server hardware troubleshooting experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with network configuration and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with server hardware components and troubleshooting
