About the position

The Associate Data Engineer role is focused on eliciting and documenting requirements for small-scale software development and change initiatives. The position involves coding, testing, and documenting low-complexity software programs/scripts, conducting software maintenance tasks, and resolving routine software issues. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and continuous development of knowledge in software development methodologies and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit and document requirements for small-scale changes and assist with more complex change initiatives.
  • Code, test, and document low-complexity software programs/scripts within a supplied design.
  • Conduct software maintenance tasks and maintain documentation.
  • Design simple test cases, test scripts, and test data, and automate repeatable tasks.
  • Create storyboards, wireframes, and functional prototypes using agreed tools and techniques.
  • Administer, log, and report on configuration items and audit low-complexity software systems.
  • Verify that defined quality and safety assurance activities have been conducted and collect evidence for formal system audits.
  • Assist with routine communication between the organization and suppliers, and collect supplier performance data.
  • Continuously develop and maintain knowledge of agreed models, methods, and tools for requirements management, software development, and testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fundamental programming experience with languages such as Ruby, Python, Java, C, C++, C#, COBOL, SQL, .Net, DBA, JavaScript.
  • Fundamental knowledge of the Oracle platform and familiarity with vendor-specific platforms like Azure, AWS, and Linux.
  • Fundamental awareness of data structures, algorithms, and database management.
  • Fundamental awareness of cybersecurity, cloud computing, and coding software alerting & notifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with DevOps engineering practices and Agile framework.
  • Familiarity with full-stack development, mobile development, and web development.
