About the position

The Associate Dean of Career Technical Education and Workforce Development at Lawson State Community College is responsible for providing leadership and administrative oversight for the development and administration of strategies and institutional policies related to Career Technical Educational programs and the Workforce Development division. This role involves supervising department chairs, improving departmental operations, conducting evaluations, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, while also engaging in community relations and curriculum development.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the leadership team of Career Technical Education (CTE) Chairs and Workforce Development (WFD) Assistant Dean.
  • Conduct CTE and WFD Leadership Team Meetings.
  • Write grants to secure equipment.
  • Conduct annual evaluations of CTE Department Chairs and the WFD Assistant Dean.
  • Serve on Hiring Advisory Committees for CTE and WFD personnel.
  • Assist with the day-to-day supervision, coordination, and integration of the CTE and WFD programs and personnel.
  • Develop short and long-range plans for CTE and the WFD division.
  • Provide orientation for new personnel.
  • Supervise the requisition, inventory, and maintenance of all administration, laboratory, instructional materials, and equipment.
  • Develop and implement Degree Maps for all CTE programs.
  • Develop annual schedules, class schedules, and personnel as needed.
  • Recruit and recommend adjunct and temporary, part-time personnel for CTE and WFD.
  • Assist in the planning and implementing community relations activities as they relate to the CTE and WFD divisions.
  • Maintain appropriate records and files related to the CTE and WFD divisions.
  • Assess, review, and approve personnel contracts each semester.
  • Complete, submit and approve contracts for the CTE and WFD divisions.
  • Assist with accreditation and certification processes including SACSCOC and various program-specific accreditation reports.
  • Assist in the college-wide planning process and institutional effectiveness of the college.
  • Assist in the development, publication, and enforcement of policies established by the college.
  • Assist in the development of CTE and WFD department budgets.
  • Recommend curriculum for new/additional courses/programs.
  • Provide leadership and assistance in curriculum development and teaching and learning activities.
  • Participate in pertinent local, state, regional, and national organizations.
  • Serve as a member of committees as assigned.
  • Support and implement the mission of the college.
  • Assist with distance learning activities as they relate to CTE and WFD programs.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Career Technical Education or related field from a regionally accredited institution, plus five years of progressive instructional and administrative experience in CTE or related experience OR a Bachelor's Degree in Career Technical Education or related field from a regionally accredited institution with ten years of progressive instructional and administrative experience in CTE or related work experience may substitute.
  • Demonstrated proficient writing skills at the post-secondary level or higher.
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Programs and related software programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Progressive instructional and administrative experience in CTE or related at the division chair level or higher in a post-secondary community college setting.
  • Experience using the Canvas Learning Management System.
