About the position

The Lincoln Memorial University-College of Veterinary Medicine at Orange Park is seeking an Associate Dean of Research and Basic Sciences who will play a pivotal role in advancing the research mission of the institution. This position is designed for a dynamic and visionary leader who can effectively collaborate with faculty, students, and external partners to enhance research productivity, promote student engagement, and secure funding for research initiatives. The Associate Dean will be responsible for the strategic leadership of basic sciences coursework and faculty, working closely with the Dean to ensure that the college's vision, strategic direction, and priorities are implemented effectively. In this role, the Associate Dean will provide strategic direction and leadership for research activities in basic sciences, developing and implementing initiatives to enhance the research profile of the institution. The position requires a strong commitment to supporting and mentoring faculty in developing research programs, securing funding, and publishing in high-impact journals. The Associate Dean will encourage collaborative and interdisciplinary research that actively involves students, fostering an environment of innovation and inquiry. Additionally, the Associate Dean will manage faculty in the basic sciences department, overseeing recruitment, development, and evaluation processes. Identifying funding opportunities and assisting faculty in preparing successful grant applications will be a key responsibility, as will building relationships with funding agencies and industry partners. The Associate Dean will also ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulations governing research, promoting a culture of research integrity and responsible conduct. The role includes working with the Dean and other stakeholders to develop and maintain state-of-the-art research facilities and infrastructure, fostering collaboration with other departments, institutions, and industry partners to enhance research capabilities and opportunities. The Associate Dean will promote the research achievements of faculty and students in basic sciences, engaging with the community and stakeholders to raise awareness of research activities. Budget management for research activities and basic sciences will also be part of the responsibilities, along with assisting with accreditation efforts to ensure compliance with standards and requirements. The Associate Dean will perform other duties as assigned, promoting the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to faculty, staff, students, and the community at large, while demonstrating a commitment to promoting inclusive excellence in the CVM.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for research activities in basic sciences.

Requirements

  • DVM or equivalent degree.
  • Three (3) years prior experience in a high-level administrative role in a veterinary medical college.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a veterinary medical academic environment with an understanding of the academic environment and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated research experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • A PhD degree.
