About the position

Zurich North America is excited to announce the launch of its 2025 Associate Degree Apprenticeship Program in Underwriting, set to begin in Summer 2025, specifically from June 16th through July 14th. This innovative program is designed for individuals seeking to gain their first-time higher education while simultaneously embarking on a rewarding career in commercial insurance. The program will take place in our Los Angeles office, where apprentices will have the opportunity to support our Middle Markets Underwriting Team. As part of the apprenticeship, participants will engage in a variety of tasks that include servicing accounts through our comprehensive end-to-end process, accessing and evaluating underwriting processes, and implementing best practices. Apprentices will follow instructions from experienced underwriters in areas such as policy rating and pricing, review applications of mandatory policy forms in relation to accounts, and resolve inquiries from brokers, underwriters, and internal customers. The two-year program combines targeted virtual coursework at Borough of Manhattan Community College with relevant work rotations at Zurich North America's local office in Los Angeles. This unique structure allows apprentices to earn a tuition-free Associate in Applied Science degree in Business Management with a concentration in Risk Management and Insurance. Upon successful completion of the program, apprentices will not only gain valuable work experience but will also receive a Department of Labor Certificate of Apprenticeship, equipping them with the credentials and skills necessary for today’s dynamic marketplace.

Responsibilities

• Servicing accounts through our end-to-end process.
• Accessing and evaluating underwriting processes while implementing best practices.

• Resolving inquiries from brokers, underwriters, and internal customers.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be enrolled and validated as college ready by Borough of Manhattan Community College Admissions.
