About the position

The Associate Design Engineer I - Electrical position at Fluor is designed for individuals who are eager to apply their educational knowledge of design engineering principles in a practical setting. This role is pivotal in promoting Fluor's competitiveness in the global marketplace by delivering quality services that are unmatched in value and technical competence. The successful candidate will support the Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects, engaging in routine scope engineering assignments and performing specific, limited portions of engineering tasks. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for performing and checking routine calculations, specifying simple equipment, and solving problems of simple engineering complexity. The position requires reviewing vendor equipment documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements and actively seeking resolutions for any discrepancies. Participation in equipment and material procurement activities is also a key responsibility. The engineer will adhere to industry codes and standards, as well as department practices and procedures, ensuring that all work aligns with organizational and project objectives. The role demands strong organizational skills to prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks effectively and timely, setting priorities and meeting deadlines. The engineer will also be expected to analyze problems of varying complexity and make independent recommendations for solutions. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, contributing to the overall success of the projects and the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and check routine calculations, specify simple equipment, and solve problems of simple engineering complexity
  • Review vendor equipment documentation for compliance with project requirements and seek discrepancy resolution
  • Participate in equipment and material procurement activities
  • Adhere to industry codes and standards as well as department practices and procedures
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study
  • No required previous years of work-related experience (new graduate)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various audiences including management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Engineer-in-Training achievement status accomplished
  • Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability, and cost of materials
  • Practical field experience
  • Intermediate computer and software skills including word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet, and electronic presentation programs
