About the position

GW, a premier publishing services provider, is seeking a creative individual who is passionate about education and learning to join our growing team as an Associate Developmental Editor. In this role, you will be an integral part of our Content Development team, which is dedicated to creating educational (instructional) content and assessments, particularly focusing on higher education and adult learning. Our mission is to enhance the learning experience through high-quality content, develop assessments that accurately measure mastery, provide exceptional customer support throughout the development process, and maintain a fun and engaging work environment. As an Associate Developmental Editor, you will directly contribute to these goals by supporting our in-house instructional designers and subject matter experts (SMEs) while managing your own projects. Your daily responsibilities will include ensuring that content adheres to supplied templates, performing quality checks on content and assessments created by freelance SMEs and writers, and occasionally writing or rewriting questions. You will also manage select projects, which involves direct communication with customers, monitoring and managing costs, and ensuring that projects remain on schedule. Additionally, you will be responsible for writing summary reports of printed journal articles. The majority of your work will be conducted using Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat, making proficiency in these tools essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure content conforms to supplied templates (file formatting, order of content)
  • Perform quality checks on content and assessments written by freelance SMEs/writers
  • Occasionally write/rewrite questions
  • Manage select projects, including communicating directly with the customer, monitoring/managing costs, and keeping the project on schedule
  • Write summary reports of printed journal articles

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Previous professional assessment writing experience or project management experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Track Changes
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Strong writing and grammar skills
  • Strong organizational skills

Nice-to-haves

  • 1+ year's experience in publishing, education (teaching or research), or training
  • Degree or working toward a degree in instructional design, education (higher ed preferred), or curriculum development
  • Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Prior customer service or project management experience
  • Fluency in a foreign language, especially Spanish
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
