About the position

The Associate Developmental Editor at Wake Learning is responsible for creating and evaluating educational content and assessments aimed at higher education and adult learning. This role involves collaborating with instructional designers and subject matter experts, managing projects, and ensuring that all content meets established standards while providing excellent customer support throughout the development process.

Responsibilities

  • Critically evaluate content and assessments written by freelance SMEs/writers to ensure alignment with established standards.
  • Ensure content conforms to supplied templates, including file formatting and order of content.
  • Write new content as needed, including summaries and questions.
  • Manage select projects by communicating directly with customers, monitoring costs, and keeping projects on schedule.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office for the majority of work tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Previous professional assessment writing experience or project management experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Track Changes.
  • Ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Strong writing and grammar skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail/accuracy.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1+ year's experience in publishing, education (teaching or research), or training.
  • Degree or working toward a degree in instructional design, education (higher ed preferred), or curriculum development.
  • Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word.
  • Prior experience writing assessment questions.
