About the position

The Associate Digital Marketing Director - Social Media will play a pivotal role within the Exelixis Marketing team, focusing on the strategic direction and execution of social media campaigns across various product indications. This position reports directly to the Director of Digital Marketing and is integral in developing digital initiatives that align brand objectives with effective media solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying opportunities to optimize and pilot innovative marketing tactics, ensuring that high-quality, timely, and impactful digital customer experiences are delivered through social media and other innovative platforms. In this role, the Associate Director will collaborate closely with various internal teams, including promotional marketing, legal, regulatory, business intelligence, and technology partners, to ensure that all marketing efforts are compliant and effective. The candidate will also be tasked with developing creative briefs and gathering business requirements for both external agencies and internal stakeholders. A strong background in pharmaceutical marketing and digital strategies is essential, as the role requires a solid understanding of how to leverage technology and data to meet brand objectives for a pharmaceutical product with multiple indications. The position involves planning and executing non-personal promotional healthcare provider programs aimed at driving sales and increasing market share for CABOMETYX. The Associate Director will lead the development of social-first creative content, manage agency partners to ensure high-quality strategy and execution, and guide the planning of paid social media campaigns. Additionally, the role includes educating the organization on influencer engagement and activation, utilizing analytics to support insights and recommendations, and ensuring alignment of digital programs with brand goals and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of creativity, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of social media marketing, making them a key player in the success of Exelixis's marketing efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute non-personal promotional healthcare provider programs to drive sales and grow market share of CABOMETYX for FDA-approved indications.
  • Develop and implement high-impact digital customer experiences through social media and other innovative platforms in collaboration with promo marketing, legal, regulatory, BI, and technology/CSAO partners.
  • Translate marketing messaging and strategy into integrated, multi-channel marketing tactics.
  • Manage agency partners to ensure high-quality strategy, content, and execution.
  • Guide the planning and execution of paid social media campaigns.
  • Lead the development of social-first creative content.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for social media delivery.
  • Educate the organization on influencer engagement and activation for patient and customer benefit.
  • Utilize internal analytics and external data to support insights and business-focused recommendations.
  • Create and oversee project plans and ensure key milestones, dependencies, and timelines are communicated across stakeholders.
  • Identify process improvements and set standards for an excellent customer experience.
  • Develop A/B testing plans and content requirements for campaign optimization.
  • Seek opportunities to optimize, test, or advance new capabilities and share learnings across the organization.
  • Ensure successful alignment of digital programs to brand goals and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead the tactic submission for RAMP review and approval, coaching agencies on the process.
  • Collaborate with the data and analytics team on marketing data integrations and reporting dashboards.
  • Evaluate campaign effectiveness through measurement and KPI development to ensure positive ROI and brand objective achievement.
  • Provide expertise on digital best practices and use data-driven insights to continuously optimize the marketing plan.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in related discipline and 11 years of related experience; or MS/MBA degree in related discipline and 9 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Broad experience across social media marketing, with deep expertise in at least three of the following: Paid Social, Organic Social Media, Content Creation, Social Listening & Analytics, Community Management, Influencer Engagement, and Platform Management (Sprinklr, Sprout Social etc).
  • Extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical/biotech digital marketing; creative and insights-driven, adept at delivering ideas, content, and metrics.
  • Deep familiarity with paid media, including campaign buying and optimization.
  • Highly experienced with social media management platforms such as Sprinklr.
  • Solid understanding of digital marketing tech platforms and their value to cross-functional partners.
  • Proven ability to connect brand objectives with media solutions.
  • Exceptional agency management skills to drive projects forward and remove roadblocks.
  • Proficient in communicating business requirements to internal tech and external agency partners.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; proven ability to manage and complete multiple priorities and projects effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience with data integration, analytics, and customer mastering.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships with cross-functional team members, demonstrating strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Strong knowledge of social media regulations.
  • Understanding of FDA regulations for pharmaceutical drug promotions, experience with RAMP review processes, and partnering with Regulatory and Legal teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively tell stories and establish collaborative relationships.
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Analytical mindset that enhances social media content development.
  • Fluency in social media analytics across major platforms, with the ability to apply data and analysis to drive decision-making.
