About the position

The Associate Director, Accounts Receivable at Teva Pharmaceuticals is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the administration and monitoring of credit risk exposure while managing the performance of the Credit & Collections staff. This position is integral to ensuring the financial health of the organization by managing cash flow and monitoring customer accounts and Days Sales Outstanding (DSO). The Associate Director will work closely with various departments, including IT and Sales, to align financial strategies with business objectives. Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting, this role will lead a team of approximately 15 exempt and non-exempt employees, fostering a culture of performance excellence and accountability. In this role, the Associate Director will be accountable for granting credit, determining credit levels, and conducting extensive periodic reviews to monitor credit risk exposure. The position requires the development and reporting of key performance indicators to forecast bad debt exposure and assist in annual budgeting processes. The Associate Director will also manage cash inflow forecasting in collaboration with the Treasury department and assist in implementing strategic initiatives aimed at cost reduction, process improvement, and revenue growth. The role involves close collaboration with Sales and cross-functional teams to support business growth while mitigating financial risks. Effective communication of financial concerns and operational issues is essential to ensure alignment with customer and business strategies. The Associate Director will analyze economic and industry conditions to evaluate changes in customers' creditworthiness and adjust credit limits accordingly. Additionally, the position requires interaction with external customers to resolve billing issues and customer service complaints, often in challenging situations such as held orders or disputes. The Associate Director will set clear performance standards, motivate and develop team members, and manage third-party service providers for system functionalities. This role is critical in creating a high-performance culture within the team, ensuring that all members are aligned with the company's financial objectives and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the administration and monitoring of credit risk exposure.
  • Govern the performance of the Credit & Collections staff.
  • Work closely with IT, Sales, and customers to align financial strategies.
  • Accountable for granting credit and determining credit levels.
  • Monitor credit risk exposure through periodic reviews.
  • Develop, monitor, and report key performance indicators for forecasting bad debt exposure and DSO.
  • Manage cash inflow forecasting in collaboration with Treasury.
  • Assist in implementing strategic initiatives for cost reduction and revenue growth.
  • Communicate financial concerns and operational issues to ensure alignment with business strategies.
  • Analyze economic and industry conditions to evaluate customers' creditworthiness.
  • Interact with external customers to resolve billing issues and customer service complaints.
  • Set goals and objectives for the team and provide feedback and coaching.
  • Manage third-party companies providing outside services for system functionalities.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of progressively responsible related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least 4 years of experience at a managerial level, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong understanding of Order to Cash processes and best practices.
  • Good conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Proficient in Windows-based applications, JDE, SAP, and large mainframe experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage and organize multiple projects and assignments.
  • Strong customer service skills with internal and external customers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with financial forecasting and budgeting processes.
