About the position

The Associate Director of Business Operations and Strategic Planning at Columbia University is responsible for overseeing the financial management and business operations of the Clinical Trials Office (CTO) at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. This role involves ensuring compliance with regulations, developing financial policies, and collaborating with various institutional offices to support clinical trial research. The Associate Director will also participate in special projects related to business operations and finance in the Office of Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA).

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee business operations and finance in the Clinical Trials Office (CTO).
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for financial responsibilities in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Manage financial IT systems and data within the CTO.
  • Ensure compliance with government and University rules regarding financial aspects of Clinical Trials.
  • Collaborate with leadership in overseeing post-award activities for Clinical Trials, including billing and collections.
  • Support operational teams in integrating change management activities for process improvement.
  • Establish and implement HR policies and procedures for the CTO.
  • Provide analyses of budgets and financial projections as requested by institutional officials.
  • Analyze and report on comparative financial data from peer institutions.
  • Participate in special projects related to the business and financial aspects of SPA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Five years of related experience.
