About the position

The Associate Director for Operations at the Clinical Trials Office (CTO) is responsible for managing and overseeing business operations and finance within the CTO at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. This role involves ensuring compliance with financial regulations, developing policies and procedures, and collaborating with various institutional offices to support clinical trials and research initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Executive Director for Clinical Trials Office and various institutional offices to meet financial management and quality assurance goals.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for compliance with financial responsibilities of sponsored research.
  • Manages financial IT systems and data within the CTO.
  • Assesses financial data security and management practices in the CTO.
  • Ensures compliance with government and University regulations regarding financial aspects of Clinical Trials.
  • Oversees post-award activities for Clinical Trials, including billing, collections, and financial reporting.
  • Supports leadership in integrating change management activities for process improvement.
  • Partners with operational teams to maintain efficient workflow and transparency in Clinical Trials.
  • Establishes HR policies and procedures for the CTO.
  • Provides budget analyses and financial projections as requested.
  • Analyzes and reports on comparative financial data from peer institutions.
  • Participates in special projects related to the business and financial aspects of the Office of Sponsored Projects Administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Five years of related experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial and business aspects of research.
  • Expert knowledge of financial data analysis and budget preparation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Access, and SharePoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration.
  • Demonstrable ability to collaborate with research partners, investigators, and research staff.
