The Associate Director, Clinical Operations is a pivotal role responsible for organizing, directing, and overseeing the daily operations of the GI Lab and Pancreatic Biliary departments. This position entails comprehensive management of operational programs and services, including financial oversight and staff management. The Associate Director assumes fiscal responsibility through the preparation of operational, capital, and academic budgets for the respective departments. Acting as a liaison with medical staff, ancillary departments, and other personnel, the Associate Director ensures patient advocacy and promotes the maximum growth and development of each employee. This role also supports research initiatives and participates in strategic planning to achieve both long and short-term departmental goals. In this capacity, the Associate Director will establish departmental goals that align with organizational practices, fostering collaboration and coordination for interdepartmental problem-solving to enhance operational flow and efficiency. The role involves developing business and operational plans for the departments and specific programs, which includes preparing, monitoring, and controlling budgets to ensure conformity with established goals. The Associate Director will manage monthly reports to explain variances and make recommendations for corrective actions as needed. Additionally, the Associate Director will review and approve departmental expenditures for appropriateness and compliance within budgetary constraints, aiming to reduce expenses while generating increased revenue. The creation of policies and procedures, implementation of performance improvement initiatives, and establishment of data collection processes and reporting systems are also key responsibilities. The Associate Director will develop staffing plans to ensure appropriate staff levels based on patient volume and activity, overseeing hiring, competency maintenance, and staff development to enhance skills and knowledge. Performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and action plans will also fall under the purview of this role. The Associate Director is responsible for ensuring staff competency in providing age-related patient care, conducting appropriate assessments, interventions, and evaluations for patients across various age groups. This role drives and ensures effective full-service patient care, maintaining a patient-focused environment and serving as a role model in customer relations. Compliance with all federal, state, and municipal laws, regulations, and ordinances is essential, as is maintaining a positive work climate that promotes self-directed staff development and fair application of human resource policies. The Associate Director will apply principles of Improving Organizational Performance in daily oversight of the department and unit.
