About the position

The Associate Director, Data Engineering (Hybrid Work Optimization) at Gartner is a strategic role within the People Analytics Data Engineering team. This position focuses on designing, modeling, and leading the development of data pipelines and structures to enhance analytics insights for hybrid work optimization and workforce analytics. The role requires a strong background in analytics data engineering, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT processes, with a commitment to improving business outcomes in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver data infrastructure and solutions to analyze associate behaviors and business outcomes in a hybrid work environment.
  • Create mechanisms to monitor and understand behaviors and related business outcomes.
  • Partner with Product Managers to identify and execute high-impact actions for improvement.
  • Build a data infrastructure roadmap for continuous improvement of the hybrid work environment.
  • Design and lead the building of complex data pipelines and dimensional models.
  • Translate business needs into technical requirements for stakeholders in the People domain and related functions.
  • Elicit key metrics and translate them into requirements for scalable dimensional data models.
  • Update JIRA/agile boards with relevant tasks and statuses to support team operations.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in analytics, data engineering, visualization, business intelligence, or analytical consulting.
  • 4+ years managing or contributing to data engineering or analytics development projects.
  • Proven ability to use data and analytics to solve complex business problems related to hybrid work.
  • Successful track record of service delivery and change management in a global environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate complex topics at all organizational levels.
  • Strong data modeling mindset with a focus on business impact and scalability.
  • Proven experience translating business requirements into dimensional models within a data warehouse.
  • Expert SQL skills for writing and optimizing efficient queries.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python or R).
  • Knowledge of lake house or logical data warehousing and cloud-specific analytics storage platforms.
