About the position

The Data Science & Business Analytics Associate Director role is focused on driving strategic operating priorities through data-driven insights in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. This position involves collaborating with various teams to develop actionable commercial use-cases, leveraging data to inform brand strategies and enhance customer engagement. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of healthcare technology, and the ability to translate complex business needs into analytical solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of data scientists and business analysts, providing guidance on best practices in data analytics, modeling, and data visualization.
  • Translate business needs and priorities to build analytical plans that answer business questions by providing actionable insights.
  • Effectively communicate advanced analytics to stakeholders to inform business decisions.
  • Analyze data using advanced analytical/statistical techniques across disparate databases/sources to develop insights that inform commercial business strategies.
  • Collaborate across HHDDA teams to deliver best-in-class solutions that drive data-driven insights, often acting in a consulting capacity.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in analytical methodologies to enhance the organization's analytic capabilities.
  • Contribute to innovative experiments, specifically in idea generation, incubation, and experimentation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience delivering complex analytical projects in the pharmaceutical/biotech/healthcare industry.
  • Knowledge in mining patient medical claims/EMR data with a strategic mindset and a proven record of producing actionable business insights.
  • Experience in developing machine learning and descriptive algorithms/modeling using languages such as Python, R, SAS, SQL.
  • Self-motivated, proactive mindset, and ability to work independently.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to comprehend business processes and commercial strategies in detail.
  • Effective stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to convey information confidently across different backgrounds and seniority levels.
  • Effective organizational and project management skills to manage a team of data scientists efficiently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior hands-on experience working with healthcare data, especially in EMR/EHR and Claims Data.
  • Expertise in the HIV therapeutic area.
