About the position

The Associate Director, Data Visualization Lead at AbbVie is a strategic role focused on driving business insights and analytics within the Clinical Trial Management Ecosystem. Reporting to the Director of Performance Intelligence & Technology, this position collaborates with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to identify trends, enhance data integrity, and support decision-making processes. The role emphasizes the importance of actionable insights derived from clinical trial performance indicators and aims to foster a data-centric culture within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with CDO VPs, TA Heads, and Sr. Directors to identify trends and drive action steps.
  • Provide strategic direction across system owners to ensure data integrity for clinical trials.
  • Communicate insights and analysis to CDO LT and R&D Leaders to support decision-making.
  • Support CDO LT in planning and implementing strategies and initiatives.
  • Present findings at executive leadership meetings and follow up with additional analysis.
  • Anticipate emerging technology needs and propose innovative solutions.
  • Maintain and evolve processes for gathering and distributing industry benchmarks and trends.
  • Develop reporting and measurement methods for monitoring CDO KPIs and improvement projects.
  • Ensure consistency in insight generation across therapeutic areas while customizing as needed.
  • Support the Director of CTME in key planning discussions.
  • Manage full-time staff, contractors, and consultants.
  • Conduct ad-hoc consulting projects to address leadership questions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a scientific or business field, statistics, or mathematics.
  • 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with knowledge of clinical trials and analytics.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, able to convey complex concepts in layman's terms.
  • Broad-based experience in multiple functions related to drug development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degrees (PhD, MBA, Masters of Statistics) are preferred.
  • Experience working directly in a clinical setting is preferred.
