About the position

The Associate Director of HR and Financial Systems at Harvard Business Publishing (HBP) is a strategic role that focuses on managing and enhancing the Finance and HR systems, particularly Workday and eCommerce platforms. Reporting to the Vice President of IT, this position involves building cross-functional relationships, leading a high-performing team, and ensuring the effective utilization of systems to meet business needs and drive value for the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Establish strong relationships with business stakeholders in Finance, HR, and other units.
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into capability/platform roadmaps.
  • Manage a high-performing team, ensuring workload and priorities are aligned with roadmaps.
  • Manage strategic vendor relationships, ensuring solutions are delivered in line with cost, schedule, and quality expectations.
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of Workday modules.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for end-users to maximize the effective use of Workday.
  • Oversee expert support and management for Workday, ensuring its effective utilization and integration with other systems.
  • Lead the monitoring of Workday system performance and oversee troubleshooting of issues to ensure optimal functionality and data confidentiality.
  • Stay current with Workday updates and new features and assess their potential impact on the organization.
  • Manage support for HBP e-commerce solutions and their integrations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing teams supporting HR and Financial applications.
  • Experience managing teams using Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Experience defining business requirements, writing user stories, and providing detailed system and functional designs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presenting, meeting facilitation, negotiation, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of change management and training principles and methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Extensive experience with Workday, including implementation, configuration, and ongoing support.
  • Acute business acumen and an understanding of organizational issues and challenges that are commonplace in HR and Finance practices.
