About the position

The Associate Director, Finance & Operations for the Vivien Thomas Scholars Initiative (VTSI) at Johns Hopkins University is responsible for overseeing the fiscal and budgetary management of the initiative, which promotes STEM pathways for students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and other Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). This role involves leading financial planning, data management, and administrative operations to support the initiative's mission of nurturing and connecting exceptional talent. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and managing external partnership agreements.

Responsibilities

• Lead administrative operations for the Vivien Thomas Scholars Initiative.
• Plan and execute VTSI events with JHU leadership and external partners.
• Direct administrative operations for recruitment and outreach activities.
• Manage VTSI partnership agreements and financial allocations.
• Assist with hiring and human resource needs for the initiative.
• Develop and revise policies and standard operating procedures for VTSI activities.
• Coordinate the development of VTSI budgets and monitor operational budgets.
• Prepare financial reports for stakeholders including Bloomberg Philanthropies.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable for VTSI initiatives.
• Analyze financial data to project future expenditures and revenue streams.
• Lead collection and management of data for progress reports and presentations.
• Create and maintain a database of VTSI students and track participation in activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field.
• Five years of related experience in finance and operations.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree preferred.
• Experience in higher education finance and administrative operations.
• Experience supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives.
• Experience with data analysis and SAP.
