About the position

The Associate Director of Financial Aid at Northwestern University is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Financial Aid Office, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in managing financial aid resources for various programs. This role involves supervising a team, managing a significant scholarship budget, and providing guidance to students regarding financial aid processes and options.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Financial Aid Office.
• Supervise two Financial Aid Advisors.
• Manage a scholarship budget exceeding $15MM.
• Package financial aid files for incoming and returning students.
• Assist students with financial aid options and debt counseling.
• Analyze data for financial aid statistical information and marketing requests.
• Manage technology updates and improvements for the financial aid office.
• Test SES updates and troubleshoot loan/SES issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5 years of experience in a financial aid office, preferably for graduate/professional programs.
• Experience supervising or managing a team.
• Strong knowledge of federal financial aid regulations.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Proven leadership and management skills.
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in a financial aid office.
• Experience with Peoplesoft/SES and Image Now-Perceptive Content.
• Knowledge of Sitecore Web Software and Slate.
