About the position

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (MJFF) is seeking an Associate Director, Financial Analyst to join our team. This position is pivotal in partnering with various managers across the organization to provide essential data and insights that inform decision-making processes. Reporting directly to the Director of Financial Planning and Reporting, the Financial Analyst will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining financial analysis and reporting that supports the Foundation's mission of accelerating therapeutic advances for Parkinson's disease. In this highly visible role, the analyst will be responsible for preparing presentations for senior management and reporting on financial performance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical background, financial acumen, and excellent communication skills. The position requires a proactive approach to developing and maintaining analysis, reporting, and management presentations, ensuring that stakeholder requirements are effectively communicated and documented. The Financial Analyst will utilize Adaptive Insights to develop modeling, forecasting, and other reports, making key financial data accessible to various levels of management. This role also involves building and maintaining partnerships with budget owners and key stakeholders to understand business needs, leading monthly reviews to monitor budget progress, and preparing variance analyses to identify discrepancies and provide insightful commentary. Additionally, the analyst will actively participate in change initiatives, documenting new processes and procedures while remaining abreast of current best practices in analytics to foster innovation within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively develop and maintain analysis, reporting, and management presentations.
  • Communicate effectively to understand and document stakeholders' requirements.
  • Develop modeling, forecasting, and other reports using Adaptive Insights to provide accessibility to key financial data.
  • Become an advanced user of the financial tool and provide support to other users.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with budget owners and key stakeholders to understand business needs.
  • Lead monthly reviews with budget owners to monitor progress against budget and develop customized reporting where needed.
  • Prepare variance analysis such as actual vs forecast, identifying variances, and provide commentary.
  • Actively participate and at times lead change initiatives involving documentation of new processes and procedures.
  • Remain abreast of current best practices in analytics to consistently bring innovation.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in financial analysis and reporting or a related field.
  • Fluent in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Adaptive Insights, DOMO, and SQL is a plus.
  • Proactive mindset and the ability to determine course of action.
  • Agile in working on multiple deliverables, operate independently, and comfortable in dealing with ambiguity.
  • Effective in building strong working relationships and collaborating across the organization to problem-solve.
  • Attention to detail and acumen in streamlining processes.
  • Undergraduate Degree in Finance or Accounting.
