About the position

The Associate Director of Financial Operations at Kennesaw State University is responsible for overseeing all financial operations within Auxiliary Services. This role ensures the quality of financial, operational, and managerial reporting, while coordinating and maintaining business transactions and financial affairs for assigned departments. The position involves advising operational directors on business transactions, ensuring data integrity, and managing a team of accounting staff to foster a collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, reviews, and distributes monthly financial reports and queries to management and staff.
  • Reviews business, operational, and financial performance and monitors general ledger accounts and Campus Service accounts weekly.
  • Tracks expenses and revenues versus budget and ensures all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) guidelines are followed.
  • Develops five-year financial plans, department budget submissions, and mandatory fee requests for multiple business units.
  • Develops Public Private Venture (PPV) reporting and analysis, performs statistical research, and analyzes and identifies gaps in business performance.
  • Reviews, approves, and remits monthly staff journal entries.
  • Reviews and approves purchase orders, payment requests, voucher adjustments, and budget amendments.
  • Reviews and approves monthly account reconciliations and supervises assigned staff.
  • Uses multiple business and subsidiary transaction systems to produce accounting information for reporting.
  • Leads and manages accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment to ensure high performance and professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Accounting or a related business field.
  • Six (6) years of experience related to the position including previous management and supervisory experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current, valid and active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credentials.
  • An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field.
