About the position

The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center (UNM HSC) is seeking an experienced Associate Director for Dissemination and Implementation Science Research to lead initiatives within Project ECHO. This role focuses on advancing dissemination and implementation science to enhance healthcare delivery and access for underserved populations. The successful candidate will work within the newly established Center for Advancing Dissemination and Implementation Science (CADIS) and will be responsible for developing strategic plans, conducting impactful research, and collaborating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership to advance the science of dissemination and implementation within the context of Project ECHO's initiatives.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for D&I research with a focus on Project ECHO in alignment with current educational and clinical systems research.
  • Design, oversee, and conduct high-impact D&I research projects, including the development of grant proposals and securing external funding.
  • Ensure research projects are aligned with Project ECHO's mission and goals, leveraging data to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with academic institutions, healthcare providers, policymakers, and community organizations to promote and enhance D&I research with a focus on Project ECHO.
  • Mentor, train, and teach faculty, staff, and students in the appointed Department and across the UNM HSC.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, ScD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent) in clinical medicine, public health, implementation science, health services research, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in D&I research, preferably within a healthcare or academic setting.
  • Proven track record of securing external research funding and publishing in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with experience managing and mentoring research teams.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with underserved populations and addressing health disparities.
  • Proven track record of securing external research funding in D&I research.
  • Publishing D&I research in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
  • Familiarity with Project ECHO's model and mission.
  • Previous research experience using Project ECHO.
