About the position

The Associate Director for Employer Relations and Marketing at Appalachian State University is responsible for leading the Career Development Center's efforts in building relationships with employers and enhancing recruitment strategies. This role focuses on promoting innovative programming and expanding professional development opportunities for students, while ensuring effective collaboration with faculty and stakeholders to engage employers on campus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Career Development Center Employer Relations Team in developing and executing employer outreach and recruitment strategies.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of career fairs, conferences, and other employer-student engagement events.
  • Conduct site visits to local and regional employers to promote Career Development Center programs and services.
  • Develop and implement customized strategies to meet employers' hiring needs, creating measurable goals for the team.
  • Create and maintain an effective communication strategy for the Career Development Center to promote services and events.
  • Consult with employers to expand their talent pipelines and provide engagement opportunities with students.
  • Initiate classroom-based workshops in partnership with faculty and industry to enhance students' career readiness skills.
  • Research employment and recruiting trends relevant to the university's diverse programs and majors.
  • Develop reports and surveys to analyze recruiting operations metrics and ensure excellent customer service.
  • Supervise staff associated with the Employer Relations team.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in career services, employer relations, recruitment, or a related field.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Experience in event planning, communications, and relationship management.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in web-based software and Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Management experience in leading a team and supervising staff.
  • Experience with career services management platforms, such as Handshake.
