About the position

As an Associate Director, you will independently design and implement extensive scientific research projects. You will also contribute to multiple projects, serving as a senior scientific consultant, a project team leader, or providing key technical knowledge to a project team. This role is part of the Biologics Analytics team, where you will report to the Associate Director and collaborate with the Global Biologics organization. In this position, you will be a functional area leader with strong expertise in biologics characterization, including a deep understanding of binding kinetics using Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) and other orthogonal methods. You will engage in extensive antigen characterization, which includes not only binding but also antigen design and biophysical characterization, which is considered a nice-to-have skill. Your effective project and resource management skills will be essential in a matrix organization, as you will be responsible for building new capabilities to broaden the scope and capacity of the Protein analytics workflow. You will also be expected to present data and strategy across the Takeda network, involving multiple sites and disease areas, and have experience in assay development and data analysis. The ability to work independently while thriving in a team environment is crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Independently design and implement extensive scientific research projects.
  • Serve as a senior scientific consultant and project team leader.
  • Provide key technical knowledge to project teams.
  • Lead biologics characterization efforts, focusing on binding kinetics using SPR and other methods.
  • Engage in extensive antigen characterization, including design and biophysical characterization.
  • Manage projects and resources effectively within a matrix organization.
  • Build new capabilities to enhance Protein analytics workflow.
  • Present data and strategy across the Takeda network involving multiple sites and disease areas.
  • Develop assays and analyze data.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in a scientific discipline with 6+ years' experience, or MS with 10+ years' experience, or BS with 12+ years' experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience in hands-on analytical characterization of biologics.
  • Experience with Octet, SPR, and biophysical characterization.
  • Experience as a team representative for analytics on project teams.
  • Experience interacting with development teams and transferring projects from research to development.
