About the position

The Medical Communications & Scientific Publications, Associate Director is responsible for managing and performing work related to publication operations for traditional, print, or digital media. This role involves planning and organizing the entire publication process, coordinating with external vendors, and ensuring the quality of the final product. By optimizing the publication process, this role supports Takeda's mission to bring better health to people and a brighter future to the world.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of scientific communication platform and core communication objectives in collaboration with cross-functional team
  • Drive the development and updating of medical communications materials
  • Generate scientific content for internal and external medical communications-related activities
  • Serve as the medical approver during the formal review process for medical materials
  • Develop materials for use by field medical
  • Evaluate and recommend speakers for medical communication events
  • Develop materials related to publications of critical importance to the company
  • Ensure that all medical communication initiatives remain on strategy, within budget, and are executed in a timely manner
  • Coordinate with the Group Lead to monitor performance of goals and delivery of medical communications plans
  • Oversee budget, financial forecasting, and vendor management for assigned asset(s)

Requirements

  • Advanced medical degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, RN, MS) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience (for candidates with doctoral degrees) or 7 years of experience (for candidates with masters degrees) in the biopharmaceutical industry
  • Critical thinker able to understand complex disease states, datasets and strategic scenarios
  • Prior experience in immune-mediated inflammatory diseases is preferred, especially in dermatology and/or gastrointestinal disease
  • Strong collaborator able to inspire teamwork and focus on priorities
  • Experience in medical communications strategy, planning, and execution required
  • Experience overseeing medical communications agencies and managing budget, or experience working at a medical communications agency
  • Good knowledge of medical communication approaches and best practices
  • Familiarity with international regulatory and legal guidelines regarding medical communication strategy and execution is a plus

  • Experience in immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, especially in dermatology and/or gastrointestinal disease
