About the position

The Associate Director, Global Trade Lead for EDX (Enterprise Data & AI) at RTX is responsible for ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and laws, particularly in the context of AI and data sectors. This role involves collaborating with various teams to develop strategies that minimize risk and facilitate seamless international operations, while also managing compliance documentation and training initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Data/AI functional leadership to provide compliance guidance.
  • Support and design guidance for major data/AI initiatives.
  • Monitor and interpret global laws and regulations related to export controls and sanctions.
  • Develop and maintain internal policies and procedures for trade compliance in the AI industry.
  • Conduct regular reviews, audits, and assessments for compliance with ITAR, EAR, and other regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate compliance risks associated with AI technologies and data handling.
  • Prepare and review trade compliance documentation, including shipping documents and licenses.
  • Maintain accurate records of import/export transactions and compliance activities.
  • Generate reports on trade compliance performance and trends.
  • Provide training on export controls and corporate policies to relevant personnel.
  • Investigate and resolve compliance violations or discrepancies.
  • Participate in global trade initiatives and influence councils involving Corporate and RTX Business Units.

Requirements

  • Typically requires 12+ years' relevant experience in compliance and SAP arena.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years' experience ensuring compliance with ITAR, EAR, and U.S. Sanctions regulations.
  • Current U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in preparing or reviewing export licenses to DDTC or BIS.
  • Experience analyzing export controls in digital systems and cybersecurity technology.
  • Strong understanding of AI technologies and data governance.
  • Familiarity with export controls in countries outside the U.S.
  • Juris Doctor preferred.
