About the position

The Associate Director, Housing Operations is responsible for managing the daily operations of student housing assignments at Florida Gulf Coast University. This role includes overseeing the application processes, billing, and communication with students, as well as supervising staff and ensuring compliance with university policies. The position plays a critical role in enhancing the student housing experience and managing resources effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the day-to-day operations of student housing assignments, including the supervision of departmental employees.
  • Provides guidance and direction to staff involved in services and programs.
  • Manages new and returning student housing agreements and room selection process, including establishing a process timeline and delivering communications.
  • Oversees all billing and collections of student housing fees, including application fees, rental fees, damage charges, and other related fees.
  • Oversees the services provided at the front desk for the Administrative Offices and supervises all staff assigned to this area.
  • Develops and manages mass communications strategy for residential students.
  • Prepares, creates, and distributes reports for assignments and staff as needed for the assignments process.
  • Assists with analyzing data to establish trends and forecast occupancy and revenue.
  • Coordinates with Athletics Department to arrange housing for student athletes and determine placement in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Develops and implements waitlist and overflow housing processes.
  • Oversees and maintains the waitlist and ensures consistent communication with students.
  • Coordinates assignments and access processes for summer programs, including conferences, groups, and interns.
  • Establishes performance goals and measures to evaluate success of assigned area of responsibility.
  • Participates in development of policies and procedures relating to housing operations.
  • Participates in goal setting and long-range planning.
  • Develops goals and program objectives.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of the overall departmental strategic plan.
  • Coordinates special projects pertaining to occupancy management.
  • Serves as a liaison between FGCU Housing and the off-campus housing vendor to arrange housing outside of the FGCU campus.
  • Manages the yearly updates to housing agreements in consultation with General Counsel's Office.
  • Manages guest housing agreements, placement, and payment.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all programs, activities, and services comply with university, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Ten years of directly related full-time experience, or a Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, or related degree.
  • Four years of experience in university housing operations which includes assignments and billing.
  • Experience with Star Rez, Mercury, Banner Student Information System, and/or Workday.
  • Experience supervising the work of support and professional employees.
  • Experience developing strategic communications strategy associated with occupancy and application management.
  • Experience leading cross department project teams.

Benefits

  • Salary: $65,000 to negotiable, commensurate with education and experience.
