About the position

The High Museum of Art is seeking a development professional to serve as Associate Director of Individual Giving. This position plays a key role in the museum's fundraising efforts, overseeing a team of four staff members and collaborating with top-level donors, board members, and event committee volunteers. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in major gift solicitation, team leadership, and volunteer management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Director's Circle and Circles membership programs, driving a combined revenue goal of $3M.
  • Maintain an active major gifts portfolio, soliciting gifts in the five- and six-figure range.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for major gift fundraising in collaboration with the Deputy Director of Philanthropy.
  • Steward donor relationships through personalized reports, acknowledgments, and recognition materials.
  • Lead the creation of compelling proposals, donor communications, and presentations.
  • Plan and execute donor cultivation and stewardship events to ensure an exceptional experience.
  • Manage database processes, including gift processing, recognition, and reporting, using Tessitura software.
  • Create and implement moves management plans for Circles, Director's Circle, and major gifts programs.
  • Partner with the team on annual appeals, campaigns, and cultivation events.
  • Develop and oversee the High Museum of Arts planned giving program.
  • Educate donors on planned giving options and strategies.
  • Track and report on planned giving commitments and data.
  • Implement proactive approaches to market and secure planned and deferred gifts.
  • Steward relationships with donors who have committed to planned gifts.
  • Provide accurate monthly revenue reports for major gifts.
  • Oversee monthly reporting for Director's Circle and Circles.
  • Manage and maintain detailed solicitation and donor tracking documentation.
  • Ensure proficiency in Tessitura by staying current with procedures, completing required training sessions.
  • Provide support for key fundraising events, including the Wine Auction.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of experience in fundraising, with a proven record of securing five- and six-figure gifts.
  • Demonstrated success in portfolio management and donor tracking.
  • Strong project management skills and staff supervision experience.
  • Ability to navigate complex environments; familiarity with decentralized fundraising models is a plus.
  • Proficiency in crafting impactful fundraising proposals.
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects effectively.
  • Experience with Tessitura or similar donor management software.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to compute rates and percentages and to present information in report form.
