The IT Change Management Director at UCSF plays a pivotal role in leading change and improvement services within the IT department, which comprises over 900 staff and leaders. This position requires expert knowledge in organizational development, effectiveness, and strategic planning. The director will work closely with the IT executive team to ensure the successful adoption and implementation of a new IT operating model, aiming to minimize disruption and resistance while maximizing the benefits of change. The role is crucial in conducting change assessments and impact analyses across IT and related mission stakeholders, ensuring that the organization is prepared for the transitions ahead. In this capacity, the change director will design, develop, and operate the IT change management capability for UCSF IT. This includes providing leadership for the department-wide transition to a helix-based IT operating model, ensuring executive leadership support through a comprehensive change management plan, and collaborating with IT leaders to define the scope, roles, and accountabilities of various domains within UCSF IT. The director will also be responsible for developing training materials for diverse audiences, guiding transition tasks, and creating channels to predict and mitigate resistance to change. The director will establish a continuous improvement program to guide departmental efforts in alignment with UCSF's True North goals. This involves collaborating with IT Finance, IT Administration, and IT portfolio management to support process improvement initiatives and value improvement efforts. The role also includes providing ongoing leadership and training on change management principles to leaders across IT, ensuring that all improvement initiatives reflect best practices in change management. The director will be expected to engage stakeholders at all levels, develop communication plans, and monitor metrics for assessing change adoption, making recommendations for improvement as necessary.
