The Associate Director of Market Access Trade Strategy & Marketing for Oncology at AbbVie plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of trade marketing within the specialty pharmacy and distribution channels. This position has evolved from a traditional operational focus to a strategic role that requires the development of complex pharmacy and distribution strategies across AbbVie's entire portfolio, particularly in the oncology sector. The Associate Director will be responsible for understanding the unique needs of stakeholders in the specialty pharmacy channel, where AbbVie has a significant presence with high-value oncology brands. The role involves navigating the complexities of high-cost medications that require special handling and administration, as well as coordinating with payers and healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient education, monitoring, and management. As the healthcare landscape rapidly changes due to technological advancements, the Associate Director will partner with specialty pharmacies to enhance the patient experience and drive business growth. This includes leveraging digital capabilities to improve drug purchasing processes and patient touchpoints. The Associate Director will assess business opportunities within the specialty pharmacy and distribution channels, developing initiatives that support patient onboarding and adherence to AbbVie products, including Venclexta and Elahere. A strategic mindset focused on innovation is essential for this role, as it requires collaboration with various stakeholders to define future value propositions in the specialty pharmacy space. Key responsibilities include leading the development of AbbVie's strategy for specialty pharmacy partnerships, executing product launches, identifying new strategic channel partners, managing product supply disruptions, and creating impactful promotional materials. The Associate Director will also play a crucial role in the annual strategic planning process and will be responsible for managing relationships with internal business partners and external agency partners. This position demands a synthesis of complex pharmacy data to inform strategic decisions and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and agile trade marketing culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of AbbVie's strategy to partner with specialty pharmacies to enhance digital connectivity with patients.
  • Execute launch excellence in the Trade channel by preparing stakeholders for key product launches.
  • Identify new strategic channel partners to innovate and meet evolving patient needs in the pharmacy channel.
  • Collaborate with Brand and cross-functional leaders to manage product supply disruptions across the specialty portfolio.
  • Develop and execute multiple brand Trade value propositions throughout the brand lifecycle in collaboration with Brand leadership.
  • Create high-impact promotional materials for the pharmacy account team that align with stakeholder needs and brand objectives.
  • Participate as the Trade lead in the annual Strategic Planning process.
  • Represent Trade on existing product Integrated Business Teams (IBTs) across Specialty Product therapeutic areas.
  • Manage relationships with internal business partners such as the Brand team, Payer, Customer Service, Demand Planning, MABI, and the Trade account team.
  • Oversee strategic agency partners and the development of Trade strategies across therapeutic areas.
  • Cultivate an inclusive Trade Marketing culture that encourages synchronicity, agility, transparency, and development.
  • Synthesize complex pharmacy data sets to inform key strategic decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Experience with Market Access and contract negotiation.
  • Pharmacy related experience preferred.
  • Marketing experience preferred.
  • Relationships within specialty, retail pharmacy, and distribution channel preferred.
  • Knowledge of Marketing concepts within the strategic planning process and understanding of market research principles.
  • Experience in program management within pharmacy and distribution channels.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing projects cross-functionally.
  • Positive, solutions-oriented attitude.
  • Customer-centric mindset.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting Pharmaceutical Products.
