About the position

The Associate Director, Marketing, Brand Lead - ALS will be a key leader within the Rare Disease Marketing Team at Biogen, responsible for driving the US commercial strategy for ALS, a rare and fatal neurodegenerative disease. This role involves executing tactical plans, engaging with global teams, and leveraging insights to enhance brand performance and patient engagement. The position requires strong leadership skills to navigate complex business challenges and foster relationships with key stakeholders in the medical and advocacy communities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the US commercial strategy working closely with medical and global teams.
  • Lead execution and implementation of tactical plans including disease state education campaigns, genetic testing, media, and educational materials for patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Resolve complex business problems using advanced critical thinking, particularly in patient finding activities.
  • Manage OPEX and full brand spend with a focus on maximizing contributions.
  • Collaborate with the Rare Disease Medical team to align strategy and ensure coordinated field efforts.
  • Lead the annual Integrated Commercial Plan (ICP) and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) process for the brand.
  • Utilize customer and marketplace insights to identify, develop, and recommend initiatives that advance the brand.
  • Work with Market Access and Reimbursement teams to accelerate time to therapy and improve the patient journey.
  • Partner with Corporate Affairs to capture and highlight patient stories and testimonials for internal and external use.
  • Build relationships with Key Medical Experts and ALS Advocacy organizations to enhance Biogen's reputation in the neuromuscular space.
  • Negotiate effectively in promotional review committees.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of pharma or biotech commercial experience; minimum 5 years of marketing experience with at least 2 years in the US market.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in fast-paced environments and influence without authority.
  • Strong digital marketing experience.
  • Field sales or reimbursement experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively write and deliver executive presentations.
  • Ability to rapidly identify key priorities, align strategic and tactical plans, and motivate cross-functional teams.
