About the position

The Associate Director of Retail Marketing Strategy & Performance will play a pivotal role in shaping the annual operating plan (AOP) for Walmart's marketing strategy. This position is designed to ensure that the marketing team has a clear roadmap for the year, setting specific goals and priorities that align with the company's overall objectives. The Associate Director will collaborate closely with marketing leaders and cross-functional partners to bring the marketing strategy to life, ensuring that it resonates with customers and supports the brand's mission of helping people save money and live better. In this role, you will facilitate the annual planning process, ensuring that all necessary inputs are gathered and priorities are synthesized across various departments. You will lead the development of goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure the success of the annual plan, and you will establish routines to monitor progress towards these goals. This will involve real-time budget discussions and prioritization conversations to optimize the marketing approach. Additionally, you will work on integrated editorial planning, collaborating with cross-functional partners to create a cohesive storytelling strategy that is reflected across all marketing touchpoints. Responsibilities

  • Facilitate annual operating planning with a clear vision for inputs and synthesis of priorities across departments.
  • Ensure leadership buy-in through facilitating key input and alignment moments.
  • Partner with PMO to ensure a seamless, inclusive, and timely approach for planning.
  • Lead the development of goals and KPIs as measures of success for the annual plan.
  • Develop and lead routines to monitor progress towards goals, enabling real-time budget and prioritization conversations.
  • Enable a strategic view and anticipate needs for flexible resourcing within Retail Marketing.
  • Work with cross-functional partners to shape routines that drive stronger, integrated storytelling across key touchpoints.
  • Maintain a master marketing calendar across key seasons to ensure consistency in strategy and activations.

Requirements

  • MBA in Business, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in strategic development or in a strategic capacity.
  • 5+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing partners.
  • Strong organizational skills and a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to lead projects, communicate effectively, and be a self-starter.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in leading cross-functional projects in marketing or related fields.
  • Supervisory experience.
